The Machines

Most gyms are set up just like a supermarket—all the equipment that's used for a particular body part is together just the way all the dairy products are in one aisle. Generally, machines will be grouped so the machines that work larger muscles like chest and back come first, followed by those that work the smaller muscles like biceps and triceps. (As we'll explain later, that's the logical progression for you to follow in your routine.)

Sometimes, larger gyms will have full lines of more than one brand of machines. If that's the case, you may find all the machines of one line grouped together and the other company's machines in another area. The point is that most gyms have a logical plan that's easy to discern once you know what to look for.
