The Exercise: Keeping your legs straight, raise up on your toes as high as possible. Pause for a count of one, then slowly lower to the starting position.

Don't do this exercise on carpet—find a solid surface like a hardwood or concrete floor.

Starting Position: This is a good calf exercise you can do at home or at a gym. All you need is a pair of dumbbells. Start by holding a dumbbell in each hand and standing with your feet about shoulder width apart. Now, turn your toes out, so your feet form a 45-degree angle.
