Endorphins and enkephalins are hormones in the body that are related to narcotics. They often come into play in pain reduction, and you might be aware of the endorphin rush and feeling of well being that can come to the athlete during extended endurance training and performance. Testosterone, growth hormone, and insulin all work to vary levels of endorphins and enkephalins in the body. In the carb-based diet, hormonal swings are so great, especially with insulin, that you'll find yourself on an endorphin and enkephalin roller coaster. Irritability and mood swings can be great. Before you begin each exercise, adjust the seat for your height (if there is an adjustment) and the weight stack for your program. Then begin lifting, pulling, or pressing, depending on the exercise. Try to stay in control throughout the exercise, lifting and releasing evenly and smoothly.
Glutamine is an amino acid that the body uses to help your muscles combat the stresses of exercise trauma, lack of calories (dieting), or illness. When you train hard, your body demands so much glutamine that it can't create enough on it's own. Under a good training program, a bodybuilder will balance training intensity with rest. When a bodybuilder balances his training with rest, the anabolic (muscle building) environment is created. When training intensity is too high or too advanced, or when workouts are too frequent, or too long in duration, the stress of training becomes too abundant for the body to handle. This promotes a catabolic (muscle wasting) state where the body taps muscle mass and breaks it apart to use it as energy. Overtraining promotes the release of two catabolic hormones glucagon and Cortisol. Cortisol works to destroy and over ride the four anabolic (muscle friendly) hormones testosterone, insulin, thyroid, and growth hormone. This results in a loss of muscle When training intensity is correct for the bodybuilder and adequate rest is supplied, then these anabolic hormones function at optimal levels, over-riding the catabolic hormones, allowing the body to repair itself and build muscle.
Clonidine HCL was a drug utilized for the treatment of high blood pressure. However, when 0.15-0.30 mg was taken on an empty stomach, it really kicked up endogenous production release of growth hormone (CH). This was not comparable to 2iu 2xd of exogenous GH, but it did about double normal GH release for a protracted period.
Serum antibodies to GHRH develop in most children receiving treatment with subcutaneous sermorelin. Antibody titres decline sharply 3 months after cessation of therapy and are almost undetectable after 9 months. The clinical relevance of these antibodies is uncertain as there is no correlation between their presence and the effects of sermorelin on growth or on the frequency of adverse effects. Similarly, up to one-fifth of children developed anti-growth hormone antibodies after treatment with recombinant growth hormone preparations. Again, the clinical relevance is unclear.
Typically, provocative tests of growth hormone secretion with pharmacological stimuli, such as insulin, glucagon, levodopa, clonidine, arginine or propranolol, are used to confirm growth hormone deficiency. The minimum normal peak serum growth hormone response to these tests has been arbitrarily set at 10 ug L. However, these provocative tests have a number of limitations including sparse normative data, unclear mechanism of action and high variability of growth hormone responses. Because of the variable responses with these conventional tests, it is recommended that at least 2 provocative tests be performed to confirm the diagnosis of growth hormone deficiency.
Sermorelin is a synthetic analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH) that specifically stimulates growth hormone secretion from the anterior pituitary. Since the majority of patients with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency have a deficit in hypothalamic GHRH synthesis or release rather than in growth hormone itself, treatment with sermorelin appears to be a logical approach in the management of these patients. Sermorelin has been shown to be well tolerated and suitable for use as a provocative test of growth hormone deficiency. Although sermorelin does not appear to be as effective as somatropin in promoting growth in some children with idiopathic growth hormone deficiency, it may be a less costly alternative to somatropin. If your BMI is 26 or 27, you are approximately twenty percent overweight. I wouldn't recommend it in most cases. It's difficult for children to take supplements and be as regimented as an adult needs to be on a diet. Also, I'm not happy with manipulating the hormonal levels of children. They're involved in very complex growth processes. Complex interactions between thyroid, insulin, growth hormone, testosterone, and other sex hormones occur within children as they mature. Research on the effects of diet on children is slim, and there certainly isn't enough to justify prescribing the Anabolic Diet here.
Most bodybuilders today follow a high carbohydrate, high protein, low fat diet when trying to gain mass. Then, when they get close to a contest, they'll cut back on carbs so that they're on a high protein, medium to low carb, low fat diet. As discussed above, neither of these diets has near the same positive anabolic effects as the high fat diet. The increase of testosterone and growth hormone and insulin management you find on the Anabolic Diet is not realized. In fact, these diets limit growth hormone secretion, thus limiting your gains before you've even started.
