New Rule 14 Stretching is not a warmup

I'm going to get into this more in the next chapter, but for now, I just want to separate the discussions. There's no evidence that pre-exercise stretching prevents injuries or improves strength or power. In fact, there's a growing body of evidence suggesting that pre-exercise stretching inhibits power performance.

So when I talk about warming up here, I'm not talking about stretching. Some of the exercises in this chapter do stretch your muscles, but there's nothing about increasing the length of muscle tissues before a workout that makes you stronger or better prepared to lift.
