I have a '69 Valiant, and I switched from power steering to manual. Do I need a new column or just the rod that is inside the column? I believe the longer rod is for manual steering but I just want to be sure. Also, the coupler (I think that's what it is called; the piece on the end of the shaft that attaches to the box), is it interchangeable from power to manual?
Zach, the manual steering is less cluttering than the power steering set-up, and gives a cleaner look under the hood, so many people like this swap. The manual box is shorter than the power box, so the column is longer with a manual steering setup. You can swap the column out, or get an adaptor/ extension from Firm Feel to adapt your present column.
