in 1970, a simple shot of a teenager going nuts in the middle of a dirt road was enough to inspire the wild youth to buy. Seen here in this Dodge promotion photo, which incidentally wasn't allowed to be printed until August 27, 1969, a 1970 Dodge Challenger Two-Door Hardtop power slides around a dirt patch. The absence of any badges or "styled" hood means that possibly a 318 two-barrel is sitting under the hood. Eight-cylinder models outsold six-cylinder models nearly four-to-one. The first year of the famed "Camaro and Mustang slayer" was a success with approximately 77,000 units sold.
